Local helps Harvey victims in Texas

It’s been 11 days since Hurricane Harvey hit parts of Texas and one day since local volunteer Robert Keefer landed in Texas to help.

Last week we met up with Keefer from H20 PRO, who right now is in Beaumont and Bay Port, Texas, which are some of the communities hit hardest.

Keefer says the flooding damage is close to the damage he saw after Katrina hit New Orleans.

He sent us some video Tuesday showing houses that are completely gutted, and although some neighborhood has dried out, others aren't so fortunate.

“We're hearing a lot that Houston is 90 to 95 percent dry, but there's a lot of places on the outskirts. All the suburbs and rural areas next to Houston aren't getting too much assistance. We’re working with the Joshua House Ministries out of Millsboro, they've got four semis of donations that they are bringing there,” says Keefer.

Keefer also tells us there have been serious loitering issues at grocery stores and other businesses in those hardest hit areas.
47 ABC will continue to keep you updated on Keefer's findings throughout his time in Texas.
