Immigration lawyer speaks about possible outcomes post DACA termination

There is a lot of confusion about DACA and what all of this means so we wanted to make the facts clear.

As far as deportation, President Trump tweeted, for those concerned about their status during the six month period have nothing to worry about because there will be no action.

47 ABC spoke to an immigration lawyer in Salisbury to get more details and we are told generally a person is not automatically deported unless that person has a deportation order.

If they are placed into a removal proceeding, then they can go to an immigration judge.

Everyone under DACA is even able to apply for benefits or other channels to get legal status.

Steven Planzer tells 47 ABC, "People who have DACA are not under threat of deportation, just like a criminal case you have to be served with paperwork and notice, similarly you have to file paperwork to go to and to start your removal process. And that I'm aware, no one that has DACA is under that threat."

A person who is a new DACA recipient can no longer apply.

However, a recipient who has had it can apply, but only if they apply prior to October 5th of this year.
