Georgetown WIC relocates to La Red

Delaware is looking to better meet the needs of its Georgetown resident, particularly those who are part of the state's WIC program.

The WIC office in Georgetown has moved its offices from the Thurman Adams Center to La Red Health Center. The reason behind this is to be able to offer both medical and social services under one roof for their WIC clients.

We're told the WIC program in Georgetown serves 2,000 people per month. Officials say some of these residents run into challenges such as transportation and language barriers when getting these services, and by moving these services to La Red this would make it easier for WIC to serve its diverse clientele.

"La Red has a number of clinical staff as well as support staff for both Spanish, French, Creole and we are very proud to be able to support that community and a broader community in Sussex," Brian Olson, the Chief Executive Officer for La Red.
