Defense files motion in case of Smyrna man accused of beating wife with hammer in front of kids

Officials say that a motions hearing took place on Friday morning for a Smyrna man who is accused of beating his wife to death with a hammer in front of their children.
According to 35-year-old Cortez Hamilton's defense attorney, a motions hearing took place on Friday morning to suppress evidence that was found in a vehicle and the Hamilton's home. A judge said that he would make a ruling on whether to admit the evidence into trial on another day.
Hamilton, who was originally set to be tried on Monday, allegedly killed his wife Keisha Hamilton with a hammer in 2015 before taking off to Indiana with their two children, who were four and four months at the time.
The children were found to be in good condition and Hamilton was taken to Delaware; however, Keisha Hamilton is still considered a missing person. Police say the investigation is still active and ongoing.
Hamilton faces charges of first degree murder, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a deadly weapon.
