Berlin’s strict tattoo shop ordinance in works

The town of Berlin is looking to make it more difficult for tattoo parlors to open up shop.
The town tells 47 ABC there's no current ordinance in place that addresses tattoo shops, but that it was never a problem until recently when someone hoping to set up shop in Berlin asked.
Now the council is looking to adopt an ordinance already in place in Worcester County.
Town Administrator, Laura Allen says, "What the town did is we modified the county's ordinance which required tattooing to be performed under the supervision of a physician or osteopath. So the proposal we gave to the council last night was simply the same standard that the county applies to this type of business activity."
The council now has a 120-day memorandum on the matter to allow a committee run by Allen to look at other common laws that focus on tattoo parlors.
