Wingin’ It Still In Cleanup Mode

Salisbury, Md.-   For the first time since 2001, Salisbury is cleaning up from a tornado and it's been 4 days, but local businesses are still trying to recover.

Wingin' It– which opened in 2016– is still feeling the effects being stuck in cleanup mode.Owners of the restaurant saying they hope to be back open in two weeks when the college students return.

But employees– now without a job and a paycheck– having to wait until Wingin' It opens back up. Even Will Pruitt, whose car was destroyed in the parking lot.

"Yeah, the door flew open from the wind and the next thing I saw was the crown v'ic' flying through the air and crushing our car," he said. "I was like oh no– our car is crushed and I saw the ventilation system fly off the roof and I knew it was bad from right there."

That ventilation system is what's giving the owners of Wingin' It an issue. They have to have the whole hood and system re-custom fit, which they say takes about two weeks.

"My heart broke because this has been our little baby for the last little over year and it was disturbing to see all of this going on," says Cheryl Stetzer, one of the owners.

She says that they have had at least $10,000 in damages, about half covered by insurance. For her though, it's not the money that's worrying her, it's her employees well being. "We're like a little family here. and two of my families lost their vehicle so they're without a paycheck and without a vehicle so that's hard to take."

Cheryl says her and her husband, who also owns the restaurant, are paying their employees out of pocket to help them clean up the damage.
