Wanted Salisbury man arrested after alleged chase

Wayne Lashley, 36, of Salisbury

A wanted Salisbury man reportedly led authorities on a chase, after police say he drove off during a traffic stop, in Salisbury.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says on Sunday, they tried to stop a vehicle, after seeing 36-year-old Wayne Lashley Jr., of Salisbury, hit a curb while turning onto North Pointe Drive from U.S. 13. Deputies say that Lashley initially stopped in front of the Wal-Mart and then pulled off as the deputy got out of the patrol vehicle. According to the report, Lashley continued to flee from the deputy, heading northbound towards Delmar.

Authorities say that as Lashley approached the Delaware State Line, he ran over "stop sticks " that were put down by the Delmar Police, but continued northbound into Delaware with the Sheriff's Office in pursuit until he ran over a second set of stop stick in the Laurel area. The Sherriff's Office says that Lashley continued until trying to flee was pointless because of two flat tires. Lashley finally stopped near Laurel, and was taken into custody.

According to the report, after being arrested, deputies learned that Lashley had heroin and crack cocaine in his possession. Lashley was charged in Delaware by the Delmar Police Department with CDS possession, the attempt to flee and elude along with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He is currently being held in Sussex Correctional Institution on a $57,503 bond pending his return to Wicomico County, to face charges of CDS possession with the intent to distribute and charges related to the pursuit in this jurisdiction.

Lashley was previously featured on Wicomico County's Most Wanted list, on a warrant that was issued after he reportedly failed to appear for a case where he was charged with animal cruelty back in 2016.
