UPDATE: Chicken truck driver cited for Milford crash

Officials say a driver sustained minor injuries, after a crash involving a chicken truck, in Milford.

Delaware State Police say on Tuesday, around 3:10 PM, 43-year-old Donald Jones, of Dover, was driving a 2017 Freightliner chicken truck westbound exiting from a driveway, crossing over Coastal Highway (SR 1) northbound to travel south on SR 1, near Bakerfield Road.

According to the report, at this time, 43-year-old Stephanie Marvel, of Sudlersville, MD, was driving a 2013 GMC Terrain northbound on SR 1, in the right lane, and struck the trailer of the truck with the front bumper. Authorities say the Marvel's vehicle traveled a short distance before coming to a stop, while the Freightliner truck remained in the crossover lane.

Troopers say both Jones and Marvel wear wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Marvel was transported to the Beebe Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

DSP reports that Jones was cited for failure to yield right of way.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
