Tryouts for Softball League this Weekend

Tryouts are scheduled this weekend for a special softball team aimed at developing sports skills and social activism for young women.

This will be the final tryout session for a brand new team called "Eastern Shore Autism Pride".

Coaches say they are holding the session on Saturday at Round Top Park from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Tryouts are open to young women ages 16 to 18.

The Head Coach ,Scott Alleger, says he hopes the team cultivates the players but also increases Autism Awareness.

"I decided that I'm starting a new softball team, why not do something we can cross promote with Autism. Like I said we go all over the tri-state area we can get more of the knowledge and more out about Autism."

About 16 members will be selected by Saturday night.

Everyone is encouraged to try out for the team. Organizers say no registration is required. Just show up.
