Salisbury man convicted of conspiracy to commit arson

Gregory Washington, 63, Salisbury

Officials say on Tuesday, a jury found a 63-year-old Salisbury man guilty of conspiracy to commit first degree arson and possession of a destructive device, in Wicomico County.

The charges stem from an incident that happened on February 12 where Gregory Washington aided his longtime girlfriend in making two Molotov cocktails and then drove her to her brother's house, where she threw the explosive devices at her brother's home.

Washington has been held without bond and remains in custody until sentencing. The Circuit Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and will set a sentencing hearing in the near future.

Wicomico County State's Attorney Ella Disharoon commended the work of the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, working together with the Salisbury Police Department to ensure public safety.

She also thanked Senior Assistant State's Attorney Richard Brueckner who prosecuted Washington.
