One injured in Trappe crash

A man was injured when police say he crashed into a tree, after hitting another vehicle, in Talbot County.

Maryland State Police say on Friday, just before 6:00 AM, they responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of westbound Route 50 at the 75 mile marker. Once on scene, Troopers say their investigation revealed that 30-year-old Bryan Lee Burton was driving a 2003 Nissan Maxima westbound on Ocean Gateway, in the area of the 75 mile marker.

According to the report, Burton hit the back of a 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by 48-year-old Wallace Richardson Wiley, of Cambridge. Authorities say that after Wiley's truck was hit, Burton continued to travel westbound, running off the roadway and hitting a tree in a front yard, on Ocean Gateway, in Trappe.

Officials say the Burton was injured, and transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center by Trooper 6. Wiley was not injured in the collision.

MSP says that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident. Maryland State Police was assisted by the Talbot County Sheriff's Office, Aviation Command, and Trappe Volunteer Fire and EMS personnel.

This crash is still under investigation.
