NFL’s Local Economic Impact

Salisbury, Md.- It's a multi-billion dollar moneymaker, and the NFL regular season is almost back. Because local matters, what's the effect on our area?

With preseason kicking off on Thursday, fans in Delmarva are ecstatic. The Brew River Restaurant in Salisbury can agree, as they said they had a full house on Thursday for the Ravens-Redskins preseason game.

"I'm more into the regular season, so i didn't know how it was going to go, but with the Redskins playing the Ravens last night, we had a completely full bar throughout the entire game last night," says General Manager Mike Brittingham.

The return of football brings money. Fans are upset to see their summers winding down, but know football is right on the other side.

"I love it [football]. but then I hate it because that means summers coming to an end," says Chris Pilon, a Salisbury resident and Pittsburgh Steelers fans.

Businesses, though, aren't as sad to see it go, because their money maker is football season.

"We probably, I would say do, compared to a normal Sunday, do five to six times as much money just having football on," says Brittingham.
