National Night Out Events Being Held Locally

Its a nationwide effort to bring the community and police agencies together. National Night Out events are being held all across the country.
The event was created back in 1984 to allow law enforcement agencies to have positive experiences with the communities they police.
Locally — Salisbury is holding its version at the Salisbury City Park Tuesday night from 5 until 8 p-m.
Organizers say they are expecting over 2,000 people.
"We will encompass the entire end of the park by the bandstands. We're expecting about 25-hundred people … which will be the biggest we've ever had. Everything is free… the entire event has to be free that's my requirement."
Dover police say the annual event allows them to meet residents in a stress-free — fun environment.
"Too often when first responders head out into the community its for negative reasons so it might be a car accident or a traffic violation or somebody was sick or injured. we typically meet people when its their worst days."
Dover's National Night Out event is being held in the Dover Target parking lot from 6 until 8 p-m.
