Mower fire extends to garage; causes over $70k in damage in Mardela Springs

Officials say that a fire caused $20,000 in damage to a mower in Mardela Springs on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, at 12:39 PM, 20 firefighters responded to a blaze on Hurleys Neck Road. The fire took about 40 minutes to control and officials say that the loss of contents was $53,000.
No one was injured in the blaze, and it was discovered by the owner. The cause of the fire was an accidental failure of the mower's operating system.
The fire extended to a 30'x40' wood framed pole building which housed one passenger vehicle, one motorcycle and other tools and equipment.
