Maryland Tax Free Week Starts Sunday

MARYLAND- Back to school time is right around the corner, and the State of Maryland is trying to help out families.
Maryland will offering tax-free week starting this Sunday, August 13th which will run until August 19th.
The only state to offer a tax-free week, instead of weekend, the state is hoping that families can stock up on back to school supplies for cheap.
Some items that will be tax-free include clothing and footwear under $100, hats, diapers and coats. However, items like jewelry and wallets will not be tax-free.
"I think its a great opportunity for Maryland residents to have. Getting school clothes, backpacks, materials for school for your child that they can have for the school year. Stock up, this is the time to do it, its tax free," says local mother Tynice Deshields.
The Maryland Tax Rate varies county by county so your savings might vary pending on where you do your shopping. On average, though, the state says you can expect to save around 6% on your purchases.
