Delaware Organization Hosts Corrections Forum

A Delaware activist group is hosting a discussion tonight aimed at helping the community understand how the state's correctional system works. 

The forum is being held Tuesday at Trinity Faith Christian Center in Lewes at 7 pm. 

Commissioner of Department of Correction Perry Phelps will be the keynote speaker. 

We're told the new appointee plans to address what he plans on addressing criminal justice reform and how he plans to improve the department of corrections under his watch. . 

Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice is hosing the event. Charlotte King is the organization's president and says several topics will be covered. 

" We do not have an idea system of incarcerating people. We know that there are disparities– racially. There is some concern about the lack of programs. We know that there is some concern about the previously incarcerated citizens that we've spoken to."

Tonight's discussion is free and open to the public.
