Bennett Middle School Cafeteria Expansion

The request for expansion of the cafeteria at Bennett Middle School has now been approved.

According to a press release it was unanimously approved 4 to 0 by the Wicomico County Board of Education.  Severe overcrowding in the cafeteria was the main concern as it had become an issue of safety. The expansion of 1,545 square feet will increase the capacity to 480 students which will be enough for current and future enrollment numbers.

The project is expected to cost $1.4 million  and no new money will be needed as it will come from available funds. Construction could begin as early as September with the goal of completion by the 2018-2019 school year.
