Authorities investigating attempted child abductions in Worcester County

Authorities say that they are investigating reports of attempted abductions in Worcester County.

According to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, a man in a brown pickup truck and a man in a green explorer drove down a rural neighborhood near children, in the Girdletree and Whaleyville area, and tried to entice them with candy this week.

Deputies say that the man is described as an older male who may be Hispanic. Authorities say that these leads are being investigated by the Criminal Investigative Division.

Officials say that it is unclear if the two incidents are related but they are also following up on leads that this may have happened in Berlin.

Authorities are reminding people to keep a watchful eye on their children outdoors and to urge them to play in the backyard instead of near the street.
