Accidental fire caused by discarded cigarette sends man to the hospital for burns

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office has determined that a fire in Millsboro on Tuesday morning was accidental.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to a report of a house fire at 10:42 AM on Woodside Road in the Winding Creek Village development.
State fire investigators were reportedly called to the scene to investigate. The fire began in a trash container in an attached garage when cigarettes were thrown into the trash causing the ignition of the contents.
A 69-year-old man was injured and transported to the Beebe Medical Center for burns. He is listed in good condition. Fire damage was estimated at $5,000. Officials say that no one else was injured.

According to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, firefighters assisted by units from Lewes, Millsboro and Sussex County responded to a blaze at a garage on Woodside Drive at 10:42 AM.
Officials say that the fire extended to above the garage near a common space.
Two people were reportedly home at the time and one of the residents was taken to the hospital for minor burns or smoke inhalation. Officials believe that the patient was a man.
