Woman arrested after reportedly fighting Harrington officer

A Dagsboro woman was arrested after police say she assaulted someone and fought an officer, in Harrington.
The Harrington Police Department says that on Tuesday, they responded to the parking lot of the Salty Wave Seafood Restaurant, on Clark Street, for a reported assault that happened in a vehicle. According to the report, Police found two people still in the vehicle. Police say that the victim reported that they were assaulted by 20-year-old Katherine Cooper of the 28000 block of Gum Tree Road, Dagsboro, while driving down the road.
While on scene, authorities say that an officer reached into the vehicle in an attempt to turn it off for safety reasons. According to the report, as the officer reached in the vehicle, Cooper grabbed the officer's arm and tried to push the officer away. Cooper reportedly began to yell and curse at officers, while refusing to get out of the vehicle, even after being commanded to do so. Police say Cooper then began fighting with officers and resisting arrest. After a short struggle, Cooper was removed from the vehicle and arrested. After continuing the investigation of the assault, police say the victim did not want to press charges for the incident. No officers were injured during the arrest.
At the Justice of the Peace Court #3, Cooper was charged with offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and underage possession or consumption of alcohol. She was turned over to the Sussex Correctional Institute on a secured bond.
