Vintage baseball was a real home run with the crowd

At Pemberton Historical Park in Salisbury Sunday, people had a chance to take a trip back in time, a chance to see how baseball was played around the time of the Civil War.

It's called vintage baseball and although it looks similar to the game we are familiar with today, there are a few differences.

First, they only play in open fields to replicate what it was like for the players during the Civil War era. Second, they can get a batter out by catching the ball after it bounces, plus a few others.

The game today was set up to give locals a little taste of Delmarva history.

Sylvia Bradley, from Westside Historical Society tells us, "I taught history for a long time and I always thought that you start learning history by making it personal. Whatever you do with your own life and your family's life, that's history. And so when you personalize it, and this is about as personal as you can get, that is kind of a sense of history that you don't get from just reading a book about it."

One of the teams playing Sunday, The Easton Fair Plays  were actually named after a real team that was created and started in the 1800's.
