In Delaware over the rate of pregnant white teenage girls has dropped from 108 per 1000 women in 2006 – to 61 per 100 in 2015.
Rates for African-American teen moms dropped from 54 per 1000 women to 31 per 1000.
IN Maryland rates for all teen moms have dropped from 32 per 1000 women in 2006 to 19 per 1000 women in 2014.
Health officials attribute the drop in rates to increased awareness in terms of contraception – and access to contraception programs.
In Worcester County rates have actually dropped well below the state's average – with just five percent of all births coming from teen moms between 2012 and 2014.

<148 I think by providing by that type of prevention education component through the abstinence only education at all three middle schools and then with these community based groups for that highschool age I think that's got to play a role 203>

Meanwhile health officials in Delaware say While its good news that the teen pregnancy rate keeps dropping – that should not be taken as mission accomplished.
We know that early pregnancy can be a path to stay in or get into poverty.      We must continue to share messaging on the value of delaying teen sexual activity or, if a teen is going to be active, ensuring they know about and have access to the most effective forms of contraception."
