St. Michaels crash under investigation, one in critical condition

Maryland State Police are investigating a Sunday evening crash that happened in St. Michaels, leaving a woman in critical condition.

MSP say they responded to a single vehicle accident at Route 33 and Blueberry Acres on Sunday, just after 5:30 PM. According to the report, the driver of the 2003 Dodge Sprinter Cargo Van, 55-year-old Jeffrey Lee Weiner  of Alexandria, Virginia, crossed the center line. Troopers say he overcorrected and returned to the westbound lane, but lost control of the vehicle as a result of trying to turn back into the westbound lane. The vehicle crossed the center line again and went off the road, and to the left.

During the investigation, troopers learned that the rear passenger, 47-year-old Christina Marie Naturale of Bozman, Maryland, was thrown from the van via the sliding door. Officials say Naturale was flown to Shock Trauma in critical condition by Trooper 6 of Maryland State Police. The driver and front passenger did not have any injuries.

MSP say charges are pending, and the MSP Crash Team is assisting in the investigation.
