Sidewalk on Rehoboth Avenue closing on July 17

Officials have announced that a portion of the sidewalk on Rehoboth Avenue will close on Monday July 17.
According to the city of Rehoboth Beach, the sidewalk on Rehoboth Avenue in front of City Hall will close July 17 through August 12. The section of the sidewalk that will close will be between Conch Island and the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.
Pedestrians coming eastbound to use the crosswalk in front of City Hall will be rerouted across Rehoboth Avenue toward Summer House restaurant. Pedestrians westbound will be rerouted across Rehoboth Avenue at the Second Street traffic signal.
Signs will be posted telling pedestrians where to safely cross Rehoboth Avenue along with more signage showing businesses in the area are open. Officials say that the bus stop will continue to operate at this location.
The sidewalk closure is so work can be done at the Rehoboth Avenue entrance to City Hall that involves grading and stairs. Residents and visitors are asked to follow construction signs, obey barricades and watch their step.
