Salisbury urgent care center gives tips on how to treat firework related burns

If you're going to be lighting fireworks for the 4th of July, you want to take the proper precautions to avoid any injuries.
According to the latest report from the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission, an estimated 8,000 people report firework related injuries between June and July, burns being the most common injury.
47 ABC spoke to a local urgent care center about how folks should treat a firework related burns.
"Running it under cool water for a prolonged period of time would help with that. I would leave any topical stuff off it, and that includes over the counter topical stuff, because it might actually irritate the skin," says Dave Romero, a Physician Assistant at ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers.
Health officials say first and second degree burns can be treated at urgent care facilities. Folks with third degree burns are advised to visit the emergency room.
