Police: Two arrested after search finds 271 bags of heroin

Police say that two people were arrested after drugs were found in a Millsboro area home on Monday.
Around 5:10 p.m. on Monday, troopers were called to help Delaware Division of Family Services with an emergency custody issue at a home on Sandy Drive. When they arrived, the young child was reportedly taken from the home and placed in the care of D.F.S.
During the investigation, it was allegedly determined that drugs were found kept in the house and a consent to search was approved by the homeowner. Police say that troopers found 24-year-old Deshawn Handy of Seaford and 21-year-old Kayla Larosa of Georgetown in a bedroom and placed them into custody.
Police say that the two were found between the mattress and box spring of the bed, sitting on a black cloth bag with 13.96 grams of cocaine, 3.52 grams of crack cocaine and 271 bags of heroin.
A search of Handy reportedly found that he had over $1,600 in suspected drug proceeds. Handy and Larosa were taken back to Troop four in Georgetown where Handy was charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned at JP three and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $72,750 secured bond.
Larosa was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned at JP three and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
The young child reportedly has no relationship to the two arrested.
