Police search for Kent County gas station robbery suspect

Police are searching for a suspect who they say robbed a gas station in Kent County.

Delaware State Police say that on Friday, a gas station robbery happened around 2:45 PM, in Little Heaven. According to the report, a man came into the Shore Stop, on Bay Road, where he asked to purchase cigarettes at the counter. Police say the suspect then provided money to the clerk for the cigarettes, but as the clerk opened the register the suspect reportedly implied that he had a weapon, and demanded money. Authorities say the clerk complied with the suspect's demand, and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then reportedly fled from the store in a southern direction.

No injuries were reported. According to the report, the suspect was described as an African American man, standing 5' 09" to 5' 10" tall, and wearing a black sweatshirt. It is unknown if the suspect was armed with any weapon. Officials say there are no surveillance photos available.
