Peninsula Dermatology covers helpful tips on how to apply sunscreen properly

If you are heading out into the sun, you know you should be wearing sunscreen, but are you sure you know how to apply it?
47 ABC was able to speak to a dermatologist from Peninsula Dermatology about the proper application of putting on sunscreen, especially for children.
We are told you must re-apply every several hours because you're probably going to sweat it off.
Sunscreen has to be applied evenly and to all areas. The most missed spots are right near the hairline.
Children also have a hard time keeping sunscreen stay put under their eyes due to swimming, where they tend to rub it off.
The most common places to burn? The ones that point to the sun such as the nose, the top of the head, tops of the shoulders, and upper back.
They also recommend trying swim shirts for better coverage.
And as for the difference between spray or lotion sunscreens, officials say it's mostly your preference but since spray sunscreen is light and dries quickly, you have to rub it in to be sure you don't miss any spots.
