Milford woman accused of theft of over $20k from Cape Henlopen booster club account

A Milford woman was arrested, after police say she removed more than $20,000 from a local school district's bank account.
The Delaware State Police say that On June 1, they received reports from Cape Henlopen School District officials saying that the boys high school lacrosse boosters account had a negative balance, and it should have had several thousand dollars.
After further investigation, authorities learned that 42-year-old Stephanie Trimmer of Milford, was the President of the booster club, and was the only person to have full access to the account since 2016. According to the report, beginning around February 2016, Trimmer would go to various banks throughout eastern Sussex County, and write checks to herself for cash, while failing to turn in the receipts to the treasurer. Police say Trimmer continued to do this up until March 2017, at which time she had emptied the account of approximately $27,995.
Officials say that on Thursday, Trimmer was arrested and charged with one count of theft over $1,500. She was later released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
