MD 358 will temporarily close for a day in Crisfield

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will replace a damaged drainage pipe under MD 358 (Jacksonville Road)  just south of Mill Lane on Thursday, July 20.

Officials say that the work requires MDOT SHA to close MD 358 between Maryland Avenue and Mill Lane for 12 hours between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. In the case of bad weather, crews will perform the work the next day.

During the pipe replacement, officials say that MDOT SHA's contractor, Metro Paving Corporation of Hyattsville, will direct drivers onto Mill Lane, then to Maryland Avenue, and back to MD 358 as the detour route.

Along with installing a new channel, MDOT SHA road crews will pave and restripe MD 358 at the repair site. About 1,300 drivers use this section of MD 358 daily, so drivers are told to plan extra travel time.

Officials say that people should also stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. People should slow down and avoid following too closely. Maryland drivers can call 511 for more information or visit this website for live traffic updates.
