Marion House fire causes $25k in damage

Officials say that no one was injured in a two story house fire that happened in Marion on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, 20 firefighters with the Marion Volunteer Fire Department responded to a blaze on Wayman Road.

The fire took about 20 minutes to control, and officials say that a smoke alarm was present but not working.

The fire reportedly caused $20,000 worth of damage to the structure and $5,000 worth of damage to contents. The fire was discovered by a passer-by and it began on the first floor of the home.

Deputies say the cause of the fire was incendiary, but anyone with additional information should call the Lower Eastern Regional Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-713-3780.
