Local company launches Daughters In The Workplace program

In Berlin, Home Instead Senior Care has started a new program geared towards working women who also couple as their parents' caregivers.

Daughters In The Workplace is a website filled with resources for women or caregivers in general to help them through the process.

Home Instead found in a recent survey that women are twice as likely to be caregivers of their parents in their homes than men.

So this program outlines resources out there that can help them with care to better assist them with hard decisions that sometimes affect a caregiver's job.

It's something a Home Instead consultant is going through right now, balancing taking care of her father, who has dementia, her family, and her job.

"A lot of daughters feel that, and caregivers in general, that with their parents and their loved ones, that's their duty, that's their priority. But also its a priority to be able to provide for their families, to be a good employee so we always have this balancing act of how can I be both a good employee and a good family member, a good wife, a good mother, and a good caregiver," explains Leslie Zimmerman.

Zimmerman tells 47 ABC that this website can be used as a tool for people like her, who are trying to balance working with caregiving.
