In Dover, Eighteen new Correctional Employees graduate the 220th Del. Department of Corrections Academy.

The Delaware Department of Corrections says they held their 220th Academy Graduation ceremony on Friday Afternoon. According to Delaware DOC, 18 people graduated from the Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) academy, and were given employee positions.

Officials say the class was made up of 17 Correctional Officers and one Correctional Counselor. Department officials addressed the graduates during the ceremony, and awarded Correctional Officer Carl Shulz with the Outstanding Cadet Award.

The CEIT Class #220 went through nine weeks of training which included inmate supervision, weapons and chemical munitions, defensive tactics, emergency preparedness, report writing, substance abuse training, CPR/Basic First Aid, and inter-personal communication. According to the DOC, the graduates will join more than 2,500 employees who are members of the department.
