Delaware woman arrested for allegedly stabbing Hurlock woman

Police say that a Delaware woman was arrested in connection with a stabbing in Dorchester County.
Authorities say that the victim is identified as 25-year-old Shanyda Milton of Hurlock. Milton was reportedly taken by ambulance by EMS personnel to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester where she is being treated for her injuries.
The accused is identified as 26-year-old Shameka Matthews of Laurel. She is charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and malicious destruction of property. She is being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
Shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, troopers from the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack responded to a home on Jones Village Road in Hurlock on a report of a domestic situation.
Responding troopers found the victim outside of the home with multiple stab wounds to her upper body. Police say that they believe that the two women involved in the dispute are sisters.
Investigators reportedly learned that the victim and the accused were arguing before their argument turned physical. Investigators say that Matthews then got a box cutter and stabbed Milton as other family members tried to stop the altercation outside of the house.
Sheriff deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and police officers from the Hurlock Police Department responded to the scene for assistance.
The investigation is ongoing.
