Cooling centers open in Wicomico and Worcester Counties

With an extreme heat index exceeding 100 degrees, cooling centers are expected to open in both Wicomico and Worcester Counties.
Local health officials would like to remind residents to keep cool and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.
In Wicomico County, officials say that there will be two cooling centers available from Friday July 21st through Monday July 24th.
The cooling center will be open 10 AM to 7:00 PM and will be located at the Wicomico County Civic Center on 500 Glen Avenue Salisbury, Maryland 21804. No pets will be permitted inside. Residents are asked to bring their own food, beverages, and medications.
The MAC Senior Center will be open, only for all individuals over the age of 50, on Friday and Monday with extended hours until 7:00 p.m. The MAC Senior Center is located at 909 Progress Circle, Suite 200 Salisbury, MD 21804. No affiliation with the Senior Center is necessary.

Worcester County has also issued cooling centers which will operate Thursday through Sunday.
From Thursday July 20th to Saturday July 22nd, the five branch County Libraries in Berlin, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill will be open during normal hours. Saturday, the large meeting room at the Ocean Pines Branch will remain open from 3-5 PM.
On Sunday, July 23rd, the Showell Volunteer Fire Department will open their lobby, from 1-6 PM at 11620 Worcester Highway. The Worcester County Government Center first floor, at W. Market Street in Snow Hill, will also be open from 1-5 PM, Seating and water will be available at both locations.
