Choptank Electric and Delaware Electric issue beat the peak alerts

Delaware Electric Co-operative have issued "beat the peak" alerts for Monday.
According to Delaware Electric Co-operative's Facebook page, with humid temperatures in the 90s, the company has issued an alert from 4-6 p.m. People are asked to save energy during this time.
Choptank Electric also asked customers to delay the use of all unnecessary lights and appliances between 4 and 6 p.m. Officials say that home cooling systems use the most electricity in the home during these hours and in this hot weather.
They ask that people turn their thermostats up by three degrees. Other large consumers of electricity reportedly involve major appliances like dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers and water heaters.
Officials say that by prolonging the use of unnecessary lighting and appliances and by turning their thermostats up by three degrees on Monday between 4 and 6 p.m., people can save energy resources, avoid high cost energy and help the environment.
Choptank Electric thanked their members for their effort in participating in the alert.
