Cape Charles man arrested on gun charges in Salisbury

Deputies say that a Cape Charles man was arrested on gun charges in Salisbury on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, on Saturday at 3:44 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle after seeing the driver talk on a hand held cell phone while driving.

During the encounter, the deputy reportedly saw an empty holster laying on the back seat. Investigators say that a loaded nine millimeter semi-automatic handgun was found under the seat of the passenger, 28-year-old Mahesh Sharp of Cape Charles, Virginia.

The deputy placed Sharp under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner.

Following a first appearance, the Commissioner released Sharp on $2,500 unsecured bond on handgun in vehicle and concealed dangerous weapon charges.
