20 Attorneys General address rollback on protections for sexual assault victims

20 Attorneys General wrote a letter to the United States Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos, to keep protections in place for campus sexual assault victims.
Delaware and Maryland were among the 20 Attorneys General.
Their biggest concern surrounded DeVos’ rollback on the protections of sexual assault survivors. They worried the rollback would create a burden of proof for sexual assault victims.
The original protections for victims were put into place a number of years ago after a lot of thought and discussion. This is something the Attorneys General do not want to be undone.
Attorney General Matt Denn told 47ABC he hopes the letter can serve as a voice for sexual assault victims on campus.
Denn said, “The ultimate goal is to try to make sure that campuses are safe places, and that victims have an opportunity to get, to redress when incidents happen.”
The Attorneys General also called on Secretary DeVos to work collaboratively with them to take action and end the scourge of sexual violence on our campuses.
