Salisbury Festival to cause parking, road closures

The Downtown Salisbury Festival is back this Friday through Sunday , and beginning today there are parking closures in the city to prepare for the festival.

Lot 1, adjacent to the Wicomico County Library, closed Wednesday at 3 to accomodate the carnival.

Lot 5, Avery Hall Parking Lot, and Municipal Lot 16 will also see closings this weekend.

East main street between route 13 and the parking garage, and Baptist Street between Market and Main, will be closed Friday at noon and be reopened on Monday at noon.

During peak festival hours the block of South Division Street between Circle Ave and Camden Street will be closed to accommodate pedestrian traffic.

"The main thing to remember is that during the festival you're not going to be able to access downtown from the two primary turnoffs on route 13.  So the smart thing to do would be to go around on Carroll Street or go around on 50 and turn on division to access downtown those ways," said Jamie Heater, Executive Director of Salisbury Arts and Entertainment District.
