Police: Tractor Trailer crashes into house in Seaford

Police say that they are investigating a multiple vehicle crash involving two tractor trailers where one crashed into a home west of Seaford on Tuesday morning.
Investigators found that the crash happened at 6:12 a.m. as a Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on Stein Highway, just west of Shufelt Road. A tractor trailer operated by a 54-year-old Cambridge man was traveling eastbound on Stein Highway approaching the mustang.
Another tractor trailer was also traveling eastbound directly behind the first tractor trailer. A GMC Sierra being driven by a 37-year-old Seaford man was traveling directly behind the mustang.
For unknown reasons, police say the Mustang left its lane and went into the eastbound lane of Stein Highway. The first tractor trailer reportedly tried to avoid the crash, but the left front of the mustang struck the left side of the first tractor trailer. After the initial crash, police say, the first tractor trailer briefly continued east bound before pulling over to the shoulder of the roadway.
Police say, the Ford Mustang spun counter clockwise in the eastbound lane, directly in the path of the second tractor trailer resulting in a second crash. The ford mustang then reportedly was pushed off the north side of the road, crashed into a utility pole, came to a stop and burst into flames.
Police say, the second tractor trailer left the north edge of the road and struck the front of a home on Stein Highway. The GMC Sierra was not involved in the first crash, but it swerved off of the road and sustained minor damage. Both of the trailers were empty and they were on their way to the Laurel Grain.
The driver of the Mustang, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. He was cited for failure to remain within a single lane. The driver of the first tractor trailer, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured in the crash.
The driver of the second tractor trailer, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported and admitted to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC Sierra, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Delaware State Police say they continue to investigate the crash along with the following agencies who responded to the scene: Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, Blades Volunteer Fire Company, Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company, Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company, Ridgely Volunteer Fire Company, Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company, Hartly Volunteer Fire Company, Indian River Volunteer Company, Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company and Natural Resources, Sussex County EMS, Sussex County Technical Rescue, Kent County Technical Rescue, Delaware Department of Transportation and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
State Highway was closed from Shufelt Road to Green Briar Road for about four and a half hours as the crash was being investigated and cleared.
