Police investigating South Dover liquor store robbery, suspects sought

State Police have apparently connected two South Dover robberies, and are looking for information on the suspects.

The Delaware State Police say around 9:15 PM on Tuesday a man armed with a shotgun, walked into the Village Package Store on South Governors Avenue, and walked up to the clerk at the counter. The man then reportedly demanded cash from the register. Police say the employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, before the suspect and another man, who was standing at the door, fled though the Rodney Village Shopping Plaza toward the bowling alley.

The clerk was apparently not injured in the incident. Police don’t have much of a description for either suspect. They describe both suspects as men wearing masks covering their faces.  The first was reportedly armed with an unknown type of shotgun. It is unknown if the second suspect was armed.  At this time, police say there are no surveillance photos available.

Detectives say because of similarities between this incident,  and a Monday night robbery at the Valero, also on South Governors Avenue, they believe the same suspects are involved.

Police are asking anyone with information about this robbery to contact Detective D. Blomquist at 302-698-8426.  Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
