Organization offers beach retreat in OC for breast cancer families

Ocean City is known for attracting visitors from across the country, but this week they are getting a special visit from a few families.

Little Pink House of Hope, a non-profit organization,  that supports families who have battled or are currently battling breast cancer is taking 11 families to Ocean City for an  all inclusive beach retreat. This is  part of their efforts to lift their spirits during this tough time.

"So that the only thing they have to do is really just focus on relaxing and reconnecting with their family," says Jeanine Patten-Coble, the Founder and President of Little Pink Houses of Hope.

Amanda Mattingly, who is from Louisville, Kentucky., has brought her family along. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in  in 2015  when she was 33 weeks into her pregnancy.

"I actually started chemo while I was pregnant  with her, I had six cycles of chemo, and I had a double mastectomy, and then 30 treatments of radiation," says Mattingly.

Mattingly is now cancer free and has a healthy 2 year old daughter, but she admits it's been a tough journey. However this week , she's taking a break from all of that.

"I'm looking forward to the boardwalk and then we are going to see the wild ponies," says Mattingly.
