No money for former Station One Volunteers

If the former Salisbury Station One volunteers are going to be a fire company, their money will have to come from somewhere else besides the county.
The county budget approved by the county council has no money for the former station one volunteers because no money was allotted for them in the proposed budget.
Council president John Cannon said when they received the county executive's plan there was no funding set aside for the volunteer company.
When the county and city of Salisbury reached their fire service agreement it had seemed that the plan was for the former station one volunteers to move into a county owned hangar at the Salisbury-Wicomico airport.
There they would be responsible for fire service to the airport once Piedmont Airlines stopped providing that service this fall.
Those plans seem to be off the table for now.
"Where we are with the funds is there was 300,000 that was assigned to the airport and we transferred that to contingency as sort of a holding spot incase discussions occur where we need to evaluate what fire service is needed at the airport," Cannon said.
Cannon said he would not rule out the former station one volunteers receiving funding in following years budget if they are able to put forth a clear plan of action.
