Local universities start open discussion to for poultry growers on Delmarva

In Delaware, Delmarva poultry growers had a chance to get together to bounce ideas off each other about their industry.

It's all a part of a discussion series with the the University of Maryland Extension and University of Delaware.

It's goal is to bring farmers across state lines in the poultry industry on Delmarva so that they can ask questions, get ideas, and research-based answers to better not only their farms, but the industry as a whole.

"The idea is we're going to share ideas and try and help these guys be more competitive, be happier, better growers and so hopefully working together we can do that. Working in an extension they're our customers, we serve them so we need to know what they need from us, whether that be about preventing diseases, how do we better manage our facilities. We can help share those ideas with them and we can go out gather info and come back to them," explains Georgie Cartanza, a Poultry Extension Agent for University of Delaware.

These discussions are ongoing and free to the public. For more information just head to UMD Extension's website.
