Laurel woman hit with charges after parking space assault

A woman is facing charges after authorities say she assaulted a woman over a parking space in Rehoboth Beach.
The Rehoboth Beach Police responded to a call about a reported assault on the first block of Rehoboth Avenue, around of 6:30 PM on Saturday. Police say they learned that 20-year-old Nakala Spencer of Laurel, Del. was trying to save a parking space, by standing in it, when a 52-year-old woman from Parkton, Md., pulled her vehicle into the space.
Authorities say Spencer refused to move while the victim tried to park. According to police, Spencer punched the woman in the face twice, grabbed the victim's phone, and threw it on the ground. Officials say Spencer left the scene in a vehicle before the officer arrived.
After a quick search, the officer reportedly found Spencer, and arrested her. She is reportedly charged with two misdemeanors; one count of offensive touching and one count of disorderly conduct, and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
Rehoboth Beach Police would like to remind everyone that city ordinance does not allow the saving of parking spaces by pedestrians, for vehicles.
