Inmate wanted on escape charges after walking away in Georgetown

Officials are looking for an inmate after he reportedly walked away from a local correctional center, and did not return from an approved work pass.

Delaware Department of Correction officials says that Michael Montoya, an inmate at the Sussex Community Corrections Center, did not return from an approved work pass on Wednesday. Authorities say a warrant for escape after conviction has been issued, since Montoya's whereabouts are currently unknown.

The 21-year-old is described as a white male, standing 5' 10" tall, weighing about 175 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair. His last known address is in Laurel, DE.Montaoya is serving time for burglary 3rd degree.

Community Corrections Centers are level 4 facilities where offenders are transitioning back into the community, and are not secured like level 5 facilities. Inmates are allowed to leave to go to work, to look for work, or attend approved treatment sessions.
