Hearing postponed for former martial arts instructor convicted of sex abuse

A hearing has been postponed for a Snow Hill man convicted of sex abuse of a minor in Worcester County.
Court documents show that the sentencing for Zachariah Bennett has been continued because the state and defense agreed that the date of June 15 would be better.
Bennett pleaded guilty after he took a 13-year-old victim to Jolly Rogers amusement park in August 2016. He then took the victim to the back of Mitchell Martial Arts van where the victim performed oral sex on him.
Bennett also pleaded guilty to child sex abuse charges in Wicomico County for sexually abusing three underage female students at Mitchell's martial arts. That's where he worked at the time.
He will be sentenced on those charges on June 22.
