Former firefighter sentenced for intentionally setting fire to a truck

Officials say that a former Onley firefighter was sentenced in Accomack County last week.
According to the Accomack County Commonwealth Attorney, 21-year-old Brandon Haynes, who is a former Onley firefighter, was sentenced to five years with all but 30 days suspended. He was also sentenced to pay $10,000 in restitution.
Haynes pleaded guilty on January 12 to burning or destroying personal property after he intentionally set fire to a truck at the intersection of Locustville Road and Stonehouse Road.
Haynes confessed to police after being arrested where he said that he committed the crime due to boredom. Officials say that the truck was a total loss.
