Folk festival coming to Salisbury

The City of Salisbury teaming up with the National Council for the Traditional Arts to bring a huge economic, tourism boost to the city.
The announcement was made this afternoon at headquarters live in downtown Salisbury .
Mayor Jake Day along with other city and state officials were on hand to talk about this huge "get" for the city of Salisbury.
The National Council for the Traditional Arts picked Salisbury out of 34 cities that sought the festival.
Board member John Holum says it was a unanimous decision from the board.
As for what the city can expect, he says a lot of work because it involves a thousand volunteers.
"And the other thing is a huge amount of joy and fun. It's a multi cultural festival; it's all free; multiple stages over several days and it takes over the city," Holum said.
Holum went on to say that these festivals draw upwards of 150,000 people.
Salisbury is slated to host the festival from 2018-2020.
