Dover man sentenced after being caught with a gun twice in six months

Tyreek Ducette, 21, Dover

Officials say that a member of the Shoot to Kill gang will spend the next decade in prison after a judge sentenced him for being caught with guns two times within a six month period.

21-year-old Tyreek Ducette of Dover was a passenger in a car stopped for speeding on Broom Street in Wilmington in November 2016.

During a search of the car, officers saw a gun in the pocket of the door next to where Ducette sat. Ducette ran from the officers, who took him into custody after a brief struggle.

In May, a jury convicted Ducette of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, along with a similar charge from another case at the same time.

Ducette is prohibited from having a gun because of previous felony convictions for weapons, burglary and conspiracy charges.
